Posted September 20, 2023
Friendsgiving: the perfect fusion of friendship, gratitude, and the irresistible smell of a Thanksgiving feast. Hosting the party in your apartment may seem overwhelming, but here are a few tips to help ease your stress and create a memorable night for everyone.
Use Your Entire Space
When you have all your friends in one area at the same time, it may start to feel cramped. Make sure to create stations – such as drink, coffee and food/buffet – to avoid traffic jams and keep all pathways open. Rearrange the furniture to make the layout more cohesive and inviting for guests. As well, use festive decor to designate these spaces and elevate the mood.
Make A Stress-Free Meal
Making dinner can be the most time-consuming task for a party, but there are options to avoid spending all day in the kitchen. Some foods – like stuffing, gravy and dessert – can be made the day before, saving the more important parts of the meal for the day of. If cooking sounds too stressful, turn it into a potluck. Designate a certain course to each of your friends and have everyone bring their own Thanksgiving dish.
Plan Activities
What better way to entertain your guests than with games! There are many options for multiplayer video or board games that will have your friends laughing all night long. For a festive twist, create Thanksgiving-themed trivia questions with prizes.
Clean As You Go
To avoid an overwhelming mess the next day, try to clean up as you go. Grab empty cups and throw them in the garbage, put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start packing up the food when it’s clear that no one else is eating it. Containers of leftovers can even be used as a party favour.
Have Fun!
You put a lot of time, effort and planning into this event, so make sure to have fun. You’ve done all you can and some things may not go according to plan, but try not to dwell on that. Soak up the time with your friends and make memories that will last a lifetime.
